Elphinstone Reef. This is one of the most famous and beautiful diving areas in the Red Sea. It is a narrow and long reef that can be seen from above the water with walls plunging down for over eighty meters. Diving is rather difficult due to a moderate current that is always present. Besides the uncontaminated sea beds you can have unforgettable encounters with different shark species (silk, grey and white fin). The Longimanus albimarginatus, which stop here from October to January, can often be seen here at a depth of between 5 and 10 metres. The hammer sharks live at a depth of 60 metres and therefore are unreachable. But if you are very lucky, you could get a glimpse of them at 25 metres during the summer months!
